Day 31: Our candidate's letter in the Northern Daily Leader to remind us that National TAFE day is coming, and to restore this great institution.
In 2014 the Turnbull government diverted $1.4billion of public money to private for-profit training colleges. That money would've kept TAFE's doors open in every New England town including face-to-face teaching and literacy/numeracy programs. Why 'choose' anything but the best -- our public TAFE? Day 21: Greens outline why we have the strongest package to save TAFE in New England -
1. Restoring face-to-face teaching positions, literacy and numeracy programs, and disability access provisings. 2. Re-enabling Arts courses, machinery and agriculture traineeships. 3. No more public money to go to for-private private colleges 4. At least 80% of vocational education budget invested in public TAFE, with the balance available to community not-for-profit colleges who offer other complementary courses and skills. The Greens candidate has an established track-record as a TAFE campaigner far beyond any other New England candidate...with a swag of news stories on TAFE around the region, including this latest one from the weeks forum in Armidale: --- “We need to restore TAFE to the pre-eminent place as the public provider of vocational education,” Mr Goldstein said. “We want to see social equity achieved through the university and TAFE sector working more in harmony.” ---- http://www.armidaleexpress.com.au/story/3931652/candidate-debate-on-education/ |
