So proud of the New England campaign team for putting together this amazing banner that is now positioned on the New England highway for all the farmers to see as they drive past in a 50km/h zone! :)
We are off on a big road trip, so posts might be irregular for a few days:
Thursday 9th: Scone 5.30-7.30pm, Oxford Road Scone Senior Citizen's hall
Friday: Touring the Upper Hunter to see the effects of mining on dairy and equine industries.
Saturday: At the Merriwa 'Festival of the Fleece' -- look for the big Greens caravan on the main street!
Sunday: 9.30am at Myall Creek Massacre Memorial Wallk, 10km east of Bingara at the Myall Creek Memorial Hall.
Monday 13th: Armidale with Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon (more details soon)

Day 18: Learning from the locals

Senator Richard Di Natale and I travelled around the Liverpool Plains to learn first-hand from farmers about the aquifer system that is under threat from BHP's long-wall coal mining and Shenhua's Watermark projects at Breeza and Caroona.

The Greens are working with farmers on the Liverpool Plains to find the new solutions for sustainable agriculture this century, while Barnaby Joyce keeps reaching for the old methods that have wrecked the Murray-Darling Basin with weirs and pipelines to nowhere.

Day 17:  Supporting farmers long-term with sustainable agriculture

What better way to put Australia’s farming on a long-term sustainable footing than research which taps into the knowledge of our farm owners and managers, working alongside agricultural officers at the national centre for sustainable agriculture?

- Sustainable agriculture on-farm research ($75M over 4 years)
- 180 new jobs for agricultural extension officers to work with farmers to improve efficiency and sustainabilty.
- National centres for Sustainable Agriculture
- No 'backpacker tax'

It will be great to join Richard Di Natale and Jeremy Buckingham today 1.30pm at Breeza Station with Andrew Pursehouse and the Liverpool Plains Youth.
